Man suspected on stabbing a security guard at Strand Road Asda arrested

The man who is suspected of stabbing a security guard at Strand Road Asda is due to appear in court today.

Emergency services were called to Strand Road Asda at about 6.50pm on Saturday.

The security guard, who was treated at the scene, seems to have suffered superficial wounds to his leg arm.

The 24 year attacker, named Aaron Alan Smith, was arrested on nearby Gemini Road and was taken to hospital for assessment. He was charged with section 18 wounding, going equipped for theft, four counts of theft, burglary, possession of a bladed article and two counts of making threats with a bladed article.
