Burbage residents looking to hire private security to stop car thieves

Residents of Burbage in Leicestershire are planning to spend £27000 to hire private security guards to stop thieves targeting their cars. Each home will contribute £25 a month and so far 90 neighbours contributed to the new scheme. Emma Roper, who moved in 2011 stated that she doesn't blame the police ot the lack of their presence. She said

" These are opportunistic crimes. You can't have a police car permanently parked on the estate. I can't criticise the police because when there's something that needs doing, they deal with it very quickly. All the houses were built with burglar alarms so it’s mainly safe inside. It’s outside the properties that’s the problem".
