A high street security officer suffered wounds to his neck when he stopped a suspected shoplifter.
The attack happened, yesterday, the 7th of May, in Manchester's Arndale centre and led to part of the mall being closed off to the public while police carried out forensic investigations.
The victim was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
It is believed he suffered only minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
The incident happened at around 11.30am.
As a result a side street off Market Street was also cordoned off by detectives,
Officers were seen picking up a broken bottle and collecting it for evidence as well as examining a black rucksack.
